See you there!

I am constantly impressed by their dedication, creativity and humor, fused with political commentary and insight that the Mime Troupe bring to Santa Cruz each summer. They are the modern embodiment and carry the deep wisdom of the court jester (banned from Bush's purview). The Mime Troupe is always a highlight of my summer! - GW Co-Founder: Art & Revolution Convergence, Santa Cruz

§Making a Killing

cheney-world.jpg
Making a Killing follows two army newspaper reporters assigned to write a puff piece on the construction of an American funded hospital in Iraq. But as the facts unravel, it soon becomes clear that there's corruption, death, music and mayhem lurking behind this benevolent seeming humanitarian project. Back in Washington, Dick and Condi are manipulating intelligence and in Iraq, a cabal of military-industrial-Neo-Con colluders will stop at nothing to hide the shocking truth!

Making a Killing is the follow-up to SFMT head playwright Michael Gene Sullivan's hit adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, directed by Oscar-winning actor, Tim Robbins - the production of which has been touring nationally and internationally with LA-based theater company, Actor's Gang.

Written by: Michael Gene Sullivan and Jon Brooks

Directed by: Ellen Callas

Music and Lyrics: Pat Moran

Cast: Velina Brown, Michael Gene Sullivan, Victor Toman, Ed Holmes, Lisa Hori-Garcia, Kevin Rolston

Tickets: FREE! Pass-the-Hat donations after the show.

Mime: the exaggeration of everyday life in story and song. No, not that other kind of mime!

The San Francisco Mime Troupe creates and produces socially relevant theater of the highest professional quality. Founded in 1959 by R.G. Davis, the company became the San Francisco Mime Troupe in 1961. This has led to a tradition of more than four decades of free outdoor performances using song, dance, music and comedy to enlighten, entertain and provoke.

Since 1970, the Troupe has operated as an artist-governed collective, comprised of actors, musicians, writers, composers, directors, designers and technicians who the create shows and make policy as well as approve tour plans, grant sources, expenditures and special projects.
