UC Jobs Campaign at the Regents Meeting, DAVIS
The fight for UC jobs at the UC Davis campus dining halls continues at the regents meeting on sept. 19th. The campaign has gotten very little recognition from the administration, and so organizers are turning to the regents to force the administration to acknowledge the wishes of students, workers, and community members by bringing the food workers In-House. We need people to show support of this labor campaign by packing into the Regents meeting during Public Comment at 8:30 in the morning! If you can come, please do so!
Regents Meeting Wednesday, September 19th
The Sodexho worker/ UC Jobs now! campaign continues! UCD's admin continues to contract out hundreds of jobs, and their "agreement" fails to address the situation in a
comprehensive way, placing a bandaid over a problem that needs a real solution! Come join us in solidarity with UCD's hundreds of contractred out workers at the UC Regents Meeting at the Mondavi center.
We will have armbands to show support for the workers, and plenty of
signs and noisemakers for the rally! If possible, please wear a green
t-shirt as well.
Here are the details:
Where: Mondavi Center, UCDAVIS campus (we're meeting in the parking structure)
When: Wednesday, Sept. 19th 8:00am-1:00PM
Who: Students Organizing for Change, AFSCME, UCSA
Here is a tentative schedule:
8:30- Public Comment (we will try to pack as many people as possible
into the room)
9:00- Rally outside and march to Mrak Hall (chancellor's office)
10:00- AFSCME & SOC Press Conference
11:20- Regents Findings on the Diversity Report is released
12:00- UCSA action
12:20- Regents Lunch
12:30- UCSA Press Conference
The first half of the agenda is focused on AFSCME and SOC related stuff, and the
second half is UCSA oriented. UCSA has their own campaign revolving
around the Regent's Diversity Report, which will occur later in the
day. SOC will also stick around to support their struggle as well!
