...But in lieu of tasers, what do you want the police to use? What do you want them to do?

A march and a rally to ban tasers, but then what? Strikes me a lack of tasers would make the situations worse - I can think of a number of situations where people would be alive if police officers had had a taser rather than only their guns.

I recall explicitly a deaf man who charged police with a shovel and was shot, with a taser he'd still be alive...

I think these protesters want to go back to good ole lead. I notice that they do not offer any alternatives.

Tasers are used by police in addition to shooting people, not instead.

Tasers have not reduced the number of shootings and police are trained to shoot people in "center mass" with their pistols when they feel a threat to themselves. A taser would not have been used when the deaf guy charged the police, it would have been a pistol.

Demanding police accountability (i.e. they follow the rules, they do not violate the constitutional rights of people in the community) makes perfect sense and I don't understand why people would have a problem taking away one of their weapons that has been proven to be lethal and which the cops use irresponsibly.

Could you provide statistics to some reliable sources for your claims?

Thanks, Nick
