HIJACKING CATASTROPHE:
9/11, Fear & the Selling of American Empire
Presented by Jacob Clapsadle

This powerful documentary shows key motivations driving current U.S. policy at home and abroad, at the same time that it examines American media coverage of the lead-up to war in Iraq. It concentrates on two major issues: The neoconservative agenda for U.S. domination of the world, which was created long before 9/11, and the selling of that agenda to the U.S. public after 9/11. The film gives an understanding of how political imagery and rhetoric are mobilized to win public support for complex and controversial government policies. It explores how the post 9-11 national shock was carefully cultivated by neoconservatives in Washington to support their own long-held objectives in the Middle East.

This riveting film features interviews with Pentagon whistleblower Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski; former chief U.N. weapons inspector Scott Ritter; Nobel Prize winner Jody Williams; MIT professor Noam Chomsky; media critic Mark Crispin Miller; and many others. In addition, ten new post-election interviews with prominent political observers on topics ranging from the 2004 presidential campaign to the Democratic Party's struggle to define itself in a time of war. New interviews for this new release include: Van Jones; Naomi Klein; Thomas Frank; Mel Goodman; George Lakoff; Norman Mailer; Cindy Sheehan; Craig Unger; Tim Wise; and Howard Zinn.

Before and after the film, everyone's invited to indulge in our Humanist Tea House.
