SANTA CRUZ, CA. August 7, 2007 — The Santa Cruz Chapter of the
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) hosts its Summer Fundraiser and
Awards Ceremony Sunday, August 26, 2007, 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the La Feliz
Room at the Seymour Center at Long Marine Laboratory, 100 Shaffer Road,
Santa Cruz.
ACLU Civil Liberties Awards will be presented to: Assemblymember John
Laird and Senator Joe Simitian for their legislative actions to promote and
defend civil rights and liberties; to GEMMA, a support program for women
released from incarceration; and to Marge Frantz whose many years of
dedicated work on behalf of the ACLU will be recognized through a special
lifetime achievement award.
Refreshments will be served and the marimba band Singing Wood will
provide live music. The event is open to the public. Suggested donations of
$25-$50 can be made at the door. For more information, call (831) 425-3619.
