Afghan Taliban Hits Airwaves

Monday, August 6, 2007 : Morning Edition · In Afghanistan, the Taliban — known for kidnappings, suicide attacks and roadside bombs — is taking their war to the airwaves with clandestine radio broadcasts. So far, their efforts are modest. They transmit a spotty signal for 90 minutes every night in parts of five southeastern provinces.
