We do not want any Combustion Turbines affecting the Bayview Hunters Point and beyond.
Susan Leal simply does not get - we the constituents of the Bayview Hunters Point do not want any Combustion Turbines affecting the health of constituents of Bayview Hunters Point. The Combustion Turbines (CTs) emit Particulates PM 2.5 and pathogens that will harm the constituents and further impact the already adversely impacted community of the Bayview Hunters Point that will have to deal with this Health and Safety issue for years to come.
Susan Leal the Manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is not an engineer and has since being Manager of the SFPUC adversely impacted the South East Sector of San Francisco and more so Bayview Hunters Point.
I have been involved with issues linked to Demand Management linked to Energy Issues and Electricity since 1988.
When I worked at the Presidio of San Francisco I looked at this issue as part of the Holistic Over View linked to infrastructure and Energy Demand all over the Bay Area and San Francisco in particular.
I participated at critical meetings with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). California Energy Commission (CEC), SFPUC, FERC, the Stake Holders Meeting held at 77 Beale, and hundreds of other smaller meetings linked with Energy Issues over the many years.
I worked very hard with Ed Smeloff who once worked for SFPUC and was removed from office by Susan Leal.
Ed Smeloff was replaced by Barbara Hale who is very inept, ignorant, and at times very arrogant. This woman was hired from California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) by Susan Leal to push for some unfriendly, completely our of sync energy policies such as the CTs that use polluting fossil fuel. She has a bachelors degree in Philosophy - where do we get such inept folks from and why do we hire them?
We have a plan right now to have a Trans Bay Transmission Line in place by 2010. This transmission line is from the North and will land near the present Mirant Power Plant and it is Direct Current that stands to loose very little energy during the transmission process.
This plan has been approved by the final authority on such issues the California Independent Systems Operator (CAISO).
Not so the Alternate Current Transmission Lines from the South that tend to lose energy during any transmission. We do have a Jefferson-Martin Transmission Line in place but it has been down for months and has from time to time affected the Demand Energy of San Francisco - causing minor black outs and roll outs.
San Francisco at this time uses about 960 MegaWatts of Energy. If the Trans Bay Transmission Line is in place we will have over 400 MagaWatts of Energy to Spare - and we can plan short time and long term Energy Needs.
Over 30,000 housing units are in the pipeline. Other facilities are being built with any Policy Energy Plan - in short a Business Plan by SFPUC and Susan Leal who is very inept and has no clue about Energy Issues.
From time to time our energy needs peak to over 1000 MegaWatts and that is the time we resort to roll outs and experience black outs.
We, also today do not have a healthy state of affairs linked to our internal smaller transmission lines - carrying AC current.
This transmission lines come under the jurisdiction of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and as much as they try to maintain these lines and up grade them - the process has been very slow and not affective.
One sub-station at 9th and Mission has caught of fire a couple of times - often the area around it and beyond has experience serious black outs as far as the Presidio of San Francisco.
PG&E is trying its best but has not been successful to assure the constituents of San Francisco any steady and good complete service. And they have over 100 years of experience.
Our City and County of San Francisco has no well thought Energy policy. For sure it has NO business plan and for certain we have no qualified leadership. We have a lot of pussyfooting.
It is simply wrong for us to introduce into our environment old CTs produced around 1999 - old technology that will harm our environment. These CTs are stored in Texas and our City pays over $250,000 every year and has since the year 2000.
Any 7 grade student will tell you about fossil fuel and the harm they do. Now imagine dangerous particulates - PM 2.5 and pathogens from the use of treated sewage to cool the system. Only in San Francisco and with Susan Leal heading the SFPUC. This with the backing of Dennis Herrera and Sophie Maxwell - go figure.
Tony Irons should stick to the Clean Water Projects linked to Hetch Hetchy that is not going any where.
The Waste Water Plan is a mess with over 900 miles of sewer pipes leaking. Add to that 1900 miles of clean water pipes over seventy years old and leaking. These are issues these idiots from SFPUC should address - now.
The Phelps Raw Sewage Treatment Plant in the Bayview is old and should be replaced and removed from the community.
The energy some fools like Susan Leal, Barbara Hale, Tony Irons spend of the old fossil fuel toxic spewing CTs should be diverted to issues such as the Sewage Treatment Plant that are adversely impacting the Bayview Community daily.
Daily dangerous flares consisting of very dangerous particulates are sent into the atmosphere affecting the community.
We the constituents of Bayview Hunters Point do not want any CTs affecting our community. We are very clear on this.
We are in favor of the Trans Bay Transmission Line because it does not pollute and brings sufficient energy and some to spare for future needs.
Sophie Maxwell, Dennis Herrera, Susan Leal, Tony Irons stop pussy footing with the community. Enough is Enough.
