BARAKA
Presented by Pamela Deering
Baraka is an ancient Sufi word, which can be translated as a blessing, or as breath, or essence of life. This film is perhaps THE definitive film in its style: no plot, no actors, and no script, but a series of breathtaking high quality images from 6 continents or 24 countries showing the beauty and destruction of nature and humans. The film is testament to the personal passion of Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson for the world and for visual art. It is accompanied by an incredible soundtrack including on site recordings of The Monks Of The Dip Tse Chok Ling Monastery. The DVD version includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke explains that the effects are intentional.
Before and after the film, everyone's invited to indulge in our Humanist Tea House
$5 donation accepted
