Subject: SUPPORT AFFORDABLE HOUSING- 2 more weeks gained!
Yesterday was a great day for the community in city hall!
We have gained two more weeks to advocate for affordable housing
instead of expensive condos and a Walgreens at Chavez and Mission!
Thank you to all who wrote letters, joined rallies, and spoke at the hearing
last night!
Now we need to contact the supervisors to keep the pressure on!
Please e-mail or call NOW!

Thank you for your time and consideration listening to the appeal of the
3400 Cesar Chavez project. As a community member I urge you to support the
appeal because this project should not be approved without a study of the
cumulative impact that market-rate housing has had on the neighborhood. The
Mission Anti-displacement Coalition is appealing the project because it will
impact the ability of the neighborhood to build affordable housing, it is
not in line with the city planning, and it would increase traffic at a
dangerous intersection.

Thank you so much for your leadership in supporting the appeal on the 3400
Cesar Chavez ! As I community member I experience the impact of market-rate
development in the neighborhood, and I appreciate your efforts to ensure
that the planning department stops approving projects without first studying
the cumulative impact. Thank you for supporting our need for more affordable
housing!
Update:
Last night the Board of Supervisors heard the Mission Anti-displacement
Coalition's appeal on the environment impact of the proposed
condos/Walgreens project. The community is appealing the project because it
will impact the ability of the neighborhood to build affordable housing, it
is not inline with the city planning, and it would increase traffic at a
dangerous intersection.
The Supervisors heard over four hours of public comments on the project. The
vast majority were testifying against the condo/Walgreens project and about
the need for affordable housing in the neighborhood! Mothers spoke who have
waited over ten year on waiting lists for affordable housing while living
with their families in overcrowded conditions. Our allies form community
groups and labor unions all over the city also spoke; the testimony was very
compelling.
The Board of Supervisors' decided that they need two more weeks to review
the impacts under the California Environmental Quality Act. Action is needed
now to keep the pressure on! We will keep advocating for our alternative
project to develop 100% affordable, transit orientated housing at this site!
