Iranian MP Felahat-pisheh: US Cooperating with Terrorists in Iraq is "Undeniable"

"The United States has undeniable links with Terrorism in the Middle-East; Americans are leading terrorists in the region due to their ignorance and lack of knowledge," Heshmatollah Felahat-pisheh said.

He said Americans accuse Iran of meddling with Iraq's affairs in a bid to prepare the required ground and conditions for the terrorist operations.

The legislator reminded formation of combatant groups by the US to fight against the former Soviet Union in Afghanistan, and said that some of the same groups - now operating as terrorist cells - are still in contact with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

He further stressed Iran's policy for backing up the central government in Baghdad, and continued, "The central government (of Iraq) pursues the policy of confrontation with the terrorists. Therefore, Iran cannot be accused of cooperation with the terrorists."

The MP said Americans refrain from providing the Iraqi government with the tools and instruments needed for establishing security in that country, and stressed that Iraq's problems are solved if occupiers refer to the Geneva Convention instead of projecting responsibilities and failures on other states.

He noted the United States' failure in obtaining its desired political, economic and strategic goals in Iraq, and said Americans are now endeavoring to keep the incumbent Iraqi government in a state of suspension until they can push their desirable government to power, reminding that the same US policy has inflicted a huge loss on Iraq's security and stability.

Referring to the first round of talks between Iran and the US over Iraq, the lawmaker said, "After 27 years (of severed ties) Americans were eventually obliged to extend a formal request to Iran for attending talks over Iraq, and this has dealt a heavy blow at their reputation discrediting them."

He pointed out that the US raised several accusations against Iran and intended to discuss the same accusations during the first round of talks in an effort to project the responsibility of its failures on Iran and pretend that it is not moving on a slope of failures any more.

The MP also said that the demand for Tehran's participation in talks over Iraq shows that the US is begging for Iran's help with the issue of Iraq.

He described US allegations about Iran's links with the terrorist groups in Iraq as a part of Washington's psychological warfare and media propaganda against the Islamic Republic, and added, "But Americans are essentially in need of talks with Iran."

Felahat-pisheh reminded that when the US sought to implement its Great Middle-East plan, it asserted that the region is suffering from two types of terrorist groups run by the Shiite and Sunnite Muslims.

"They are trying to make a case for their allegations, and now that the Shiites are considered as an influential actor on the scene of Iraq's developments, they try to make such a case by accusing Iran," he concluded.
