Cariño Part One - ABD Productions June 8-17 at Dance Mission Theater
Click To Play
Dances of Cariño is a dance-theatre work on the paradigm of caring. Cariño ”love, affection, tenderness, endearment ”explores in movement, text, music, and visual art, the psycho-physical, cultural, and global dimensions of caring. The strong, sensual physicality of the ABD ensemble, blends with the complex, compelling music of Ajayi Jackson; the impassioned tones and lyrics of Mexican-American musician Mama Coatl; the entrancing poetry of Judy Grahn; and the vibrant art of muralist Nadine Gay.
"Dances of Cariño" will premiere in its full length in March, 2008 at Project Artaud Theater in San Francisco. As the work develops, we will be collaborating with grassroots women's organizations locally and internationally. Please help us to create this work and to enliven the idea of cariño, to positively infect our communities with the inspiration of individual and collective activism, compassion, and the re-valuing of the caring work that is donen by the women of this world.
