IMMIGRATION BILL - Pt. 3

Bay Area immigrant rights organizations, coalitions, and Labor Unions are
uniting to work on two upcoming demonstrations against the Immigration
Reform bill!!

Representatives from the various groups gathered yesterday to affirm our
collective position against this horrible bill which, among other things,
will separate families, further criminalize immigrant communities, cause
more suffering and deaths at the border, institutionalize worker
exploitation through a Guestworker program, and provide no realistic
chances for the undocumented to legalize. WE MUST KILL THIS BILL!

We also decided that we must act promptly in the next couple of months
before Congress acts on the bill. We will have a local action in late
June, and will call for a national day of mass actions for July.

PLEASE HELP US ORGANIZE! Our next meeting will be on SATURDAY, JUNE 9,
5-7 PM, CENTRO DEL PUEBLO, 474 VALENCIA ST. 2ND FLOOR AUDITORIUM. We
will map out the plan for both actions.

Organisaciones, coaliciones y Sindicatos del Area de la Bahia se han
unido para organisar dos manifestaciones en contra de la propuesta de ley
de inmigracion!!

Representantes de varios grupos se reunieron ayer para afirmar nuestra
posicion colectiva en contra de esta horrible propuesta, que entre otras
cosas, separara a las familias, criminalisara mas a las comunidades
inmigrantes, causara mas sufrimiento y muertes en la frontera, causara
explotacion de los trabajadores a traves de un Programa de Trabajadores
Huespedes, y no proveera ninguna oportunidad realistica para que los
indocumentados se legalisen. TENEMOS QUE DERROTAR ESTA PROPUESTA!

Tambien decidimos que debemos actuar rapidamente en los proximos dos
meses antes de que el Congreso apruebe esta propuesta de ley. Tendremos
una accion local a fines de Junio, y haremos un llamado nacional para un
dia de protestas masivas para Julio.

JUNIO 9, 5-7 PM, CENTRO DEL PUEBLO, 474 VALENCIA ST. AUDITORIO DEL PISO
2. Desarrollaremos el plan para las dos protestas.
