Final vote to ban feeding the Wild parrots of Telegraph Hill passes unanimously.
Final vote to ban feeding the Wild parrots of Telegraph Hill passes unanimously.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors final vote to ban feeding the Wild parrots of Telegraph Hill passed 10 to 1 today, June 5th. The amendment to ordinance 487 now goes to the mayor for his signature.
The petition created by the "Wild parrot feeders" Yahoo group to try to block the ban failed miserably.

Supervisor Ed Jew voted against the ban...apparently he was the only one with some sense, Peskin conpared parrots to "Bears" Huhhhh????????San Francisco the city that Banned the feeding of the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, I can't wait till the news wires pick this up and find out this person behind this law made millions feeding the parrots, sunflower seeds, just check Mark Bittner's parrot page galley and see the pictures (taken by his wife Judy Irving) and every picture shows the parrots being fed sunflower seeds. I guess Marks saying is "Do as I say, not as I do" hmmmm, maybe he needs to feed the birds, privately on Tel Hill, to write a new book....interesting, bears more investigation...
Nancy, did you really think we would be so stupid to not see your Fake name on You tube, JoanneCant? I really can't believe you can sink so low...

The name I used (if you take the time to really look at it) is actually a play on the words JoanneCAN, which is Joanne Cannell's ID (I used "Joanne Can't") Anyone with a sense of humor would have gotten the joke.
Funny you do not give your name, but rant about me using a fake one. You never give your name. Hmmmm
I was never banned from "you tube" My comments were blocked only from Doug Comstock's video, because he does not like the truth. For instance, Joanne posted that I was banned from your Yahoo group, ("Wild Parrot Feeders) which is not true either, yet Doug did not delete that comment, even tho' I gave him the link to the post by Jeff Ende, the owner of the group, saying that I left the group voluntarily.
Anyone who wants to know the truth can read Jeff Ente's post #983 from May 14th at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wildparrotfeeders/message/983
The post says,
"Nancy elected to leave the group voluntarily Friday evening. I didn't say anything to her other than what you have read here."
It should be noted that Mark Bittner also left the group after receiving insult after insult from you and the other members of the group. For instance, your post #946 on the 12th of May:
"Mark is the Biggest Hypocrite ever...It was OK for HIM to feed sunflower seeds to the flock, It was OK for him to bring members of the flock in his house like "Pets" It was OK for him to use the flock for his pleasure ie; a movie that made $$ for him...How was the flocks foraging behavior altered as they came to his house to eat sunflower seeds? Where do you think everyone who comes to the park from far & wide gets the idea, to feed sunflower seeds? From Marks movie, of course!! Him & Her, the Biggest Hypocrites ever, IMHO..."
And this Joanne's post #1062 on May 15:
"Are you feeding them again from the privacy of your newly purchased home on the hill? (purchased with money made from your book & movie, from what I've been told.) If you
haven't been interacting with them in the last 5 or more years, I
believe some of the people who are currently feeding them, read your
book, saw your movie & did other extensive research may know the
flock better than you."
Note that both post refer to Mark "making money off the flock" as do other posts. Can you say "jealousy"?
There were so many insults that several people left the group because intelligent posts were simply turned into more insults. That's how it is with fanatics.

I have to correct the TV coverage of this issue. Feeding parrots at the Embarcadero
is not a "San Francisco Tradition". I was in the park every day of January and February of
2006. I never saw Jeff Ente or Julie Zhu or anybody else feeding the parrots.
There is no "tradition" here. I was the one who started the feeding. The parrots
have changed in a short period of time. And now there is a large group
feeding them. The TV coverage missed this aspect entirely. I wonder why.

My guess is the group calling themselves "wild parrot feeders" are claiming that feeding the parrots is a "San Francisco tradition" in an effort to make themselves more important then they really are and to represent the feedings in a better light instead of the detriment to the birds that it really is.
BTW, thank you "crystalwolflady" for providing me with more interesting quotes for my blog. Keep them coming. My readers lover hearing the truth.

What Readers? Oh yes, thanks for posting my post to mark, now everyone will know just what a hypocrite his is...also its a fact, Judy Irving said, ticket sales were 2-3 million, are you saying they didn't make any money off the parrots?
"are you saying they didn't make any money off the parrots?"
Not at all. I'm saying you're jealous of that fact. You seem obsessed with it. I'm still waiting for you to give us your full name. It's easy to post garbage when you are hiding behind your anonymity. Even Joanne, when she posts her vindictiveness, uses her real name.

Why does he even still have a vote?
The guy is under an FBI investigation for taking bribes and most likely lied about living in the district he was voted to represent.

In regards to the 'tradition of feeding the birds' I think there is actually a movie/book about feeding the same parakeets. It is called 'The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill' by Mark Bittner, a formerly homless street musician who fed the same birds from 1993 on and off until 2006. You can pick up a copy of the book at Amazon. Just to help you understand.
