CSU East Bay Students Cited for Free Speech

My Name is Gregg Horton, I am a student at Cal State East Bay in Hayward, Ca. I am writing you today in regards to The Inauguration of President Mo on Friday June 1st. Myself and another student, Jamal Eaker have been cited with a 14 day suspension notice for Free Speech. The Chancellor of the CSU system was there on Friday, and when he began to speak, Jamal and myself began to pass out fliers about the Fee Increases that are happening all over the CSU system in the next 5 years. I also yelled "BOO!" and "STOP RAISING OUR FEES" at the Chancellor when he began to speak.

Jamal and I were quickly escorted out by police who were using excessive force when we were not resisting arrest, which resulted in the injury of my wrist. After being sat down and talked with, we were told we were free to go if we stayed away from the event. Then 5 minutes later the administration slapped us with a 14 day suspension notice 2 weeks before the end of school. We both feel that this punishment is too harsh and the the new president is attempting to make an example out of us. I have also been told that the Administration has been trying to cite me for some time for my activism on campus in the realm of anti-military recruitment and the student fee increases.
