KZSC News on Alette Rally

Thanks for the excellent audio. Angela sounds just as strong and insightful as ever. Who else from the faculty bothered to show up to oppose not just racism and male chauvinism, but also fascism? Where is the demand of the UCSC Academic Senate to drop the charges against Alette? This action on the part of the UC police was clearly planned by the UC administration. As one person stated on the audio, Alette was singled out by the police, who pushed aside a white woman to arrest Alette. The UC students who actually thought Blumenthal would drop the threat of suspension at the rally have been living in a sheltered world; fortunately most apparently have learned enough about reality to know that would not take place. It was strange to hear any discussion as to whether this act on the part of UC and its thugs was racist. After all, UC is inherently a racist institution in its academic requirements for entrance which most black students who attend workingclass schools (and most blacks are workingclass) cannot possibly meet, and in its ever rising tuition fees and books. It is because of the entire structure of UC and its anti-democratic Regents, which board should be eliminated and UC be part of the state university system under the California Department of Education and state school superintendent (as is San Francisco State University, etc.) that UC is commonly known as a rich folks' finishing school. This entire frame-up of Alette is part of the increasing fascism in this society and was clearly planned a long time ago. UC Berkeley now has an openly fascist law professor, John Yoo, who wrote torture memos for George Bush. The entire nuclear weapons research being done by UC is part of the war and fascism machine of the US capitalist class. You can be sure the general public is watching this case. We are just as horrified at this attack on Alette as we are about the US torture camps in Guantanamo and around the world; they are all part of the increasing attack on the workingclass that only a serious fightback can stop and end.
