Iraq Vet walking laps to remember fallen
comrades has health crisis, sets news
conference for Tuesday morning
SACRAMENTO – Weather extremes and nearly 24 hours of walking half mile
loops around the State Capitol took their toll early this morning on an
Iraq Veteran who is trying to remember his fallen comrades with a
marathon-style march around the State Capitol.
A NEWS CONFERENCE has been set for 9:30 a.m. TUESDAY on the North side
sidewalk to the State Capitol to update the public on the condition of the
anonymous Iraq vet.
Monday, the vet was greeted early Monday morning by hundreds of fellow
veterans, parents of US troops in Iraq supporters – including the father of
Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq – and other as he began a
round-the-clock effort to march around the State Capitol for all U.S.
troopers killed in Iraq.
The veteran had completed about 50 half-mile loops around the building. He
expects to cover all 350 California dead by early Wednesday, marching
24-hours a day. He has promised he will not quit until exhaustion forces
him to quit.

A NEW CONFERENCE to update the news media on the progress will be
held at 9:30 a.m. TUESDAY MORNING on the North Side of the Capitol.

The Iraq War veteran – who insists on remaining anonymous as "only a
representative" of his fallen comrades – has told supporters he will not
rest until he has finished all the laps, or until he cannot continue. He
plans to march/walk 24-hours a day with only a little food and water to
sustain him. The walk will also mark the deaths of thousands of Iraqi
civilians, he said.

Thankfully, the word "honor" appears neither in the body of nor on the page linked to at the end of the above post. But, Dan Bacher or whoever posted in his name, seems to think that there's something honorable about dying for a bad cause! If that were the case, we should "honor", inter alia, all those who died fighting for Nazi Germany in WWII, for the French in Algeria and Vietnam, and for U.S. in Korea and Vietnam.
