My Country - 05/24/07 - Men & Healthcare - a (very) personal perspective

by Howard Vicini
"Tonight's topic is 'Men and Health Care'. Now, before all the women viewers leave the room, let me add that I encourage you to stay for the men in your lives because most of them are likely to be diving for cover as soon as I bring up the 'T' word. That's 'T' as in parts of the male anatomy often referred to as family jewels or other terms of endearment but rarely by their real name by any men I know."

Men & Healthcare

a (very) personal perspective

with host Howard Vicini

"So, why am I talking about my testicles tonight? It is
the result of a month long illness that has resulted in some
of the most intense pain I have ever experienced.

"Like most men, I avoid doctors when I can and I am not inclined
in most circumstances to talk publicly about my male organs.
I refer to 'most men' on the authority of studies done in the lead up
to Fathers' Day each year as part of National Men's Health Week.

"Their purpose is to raise public awareness of the importance
of preventive and early detection health care for men; and,
if I represent the norm, clearly it is needed."
