San Francisco Board of Supervisors ban the feeding of Red Masked Parakeets in city parks

by nabrudigam
S.F. Bans parrot feeding
May 22nd the S.F. Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 to ban feeding parrots in any park in S.F. The birds will be healthier as they will now forage for their food the way nature intended and the many problems that were inherent in the feedings will come to an end or at least be minimized.

People will still be able to enjoy seeing the birds for photo ops, but now they will see them as the creator meant them to be; wild and free.

The supervisors are to be commended for their wisdom in giving the parrots the freedom to be wild birds and not pets.

For further understanding as to why this action has been taken, please see article at:

This is totally inane. What harm is caused by the feeding of these parrots? They have become a real tourist attraction and people love feeding them. Where does Mark Bittner
get off saying these parrots should not be fed? He fed them for years. He would be a total unknown without the documentary about him feeding the parrots.
