UNCONTACTED: PHOTO GALLERY OPENING AND BENEFIT CONCERT

Oakland native David Gilbert unveils Uncontacted, his stunning collection of photography from the Fulbright year he spent with the Huaorani, an indigenous Ecuadorian tribe struggling to protect their land from oil companies and illegal loggers, on June 2nd at Space Gallery in San Francisco. Renowned Huaorani leaders Moi Enomenga and Penti Baihua, the key point men of the Huaorani to the outside world, will host the event. The evening at Space features a reception with Gilbert followed by a live concert with local conscious hip-hop artists Unity, Binghi Ghost, and Relic. The Huaorani, whose territory is being decimated by international oil companies, are part of a coalition of Ecuadorians currently suing Chevron Corp. for $6 billion in one of the largest environmental suits in history.

There is no cover charge, but donations will be accepted. 25% of print sales will go directly to the Huaorani.
