Saturday, May 12, 12:00 pm. Book Signing and Author Reception. There is no question who deserves the credit for all the images published in the newspaper The Black Panther during the late 1960s and early 70s. He is Emory Douglas… In BLACK PANTHER: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas— edited and with an introduction by Sam Durant, a Los Angeles artist, and including essays by Danny Glover, Bobby Seale, Amiri Baraka, Kathleen Cleaver and others — these lost visual artifacts are faithfully preserved and contextualized. Douglas finally gets his due. Introduction by Elbert "Big Man" Howard, first editor of the Black Panther newspaper. Sponsored by New College and Free Mind Media. Free
