Waiting For Godot auditions (5/3)
San Lorenzo Park, Thursday May 3rd, 5 p.m.
Attention Actors, Philosophers, Tramps, and Theatre Goers!
On Thursday, May 3rd, we will be holding auditions for "Waiting For Godot"
by Samuel Beckett at 5 p.m. in San Lorenzo Park. We are looking for folks with funny
bones, motivation, and bon viveur. "Waiting For Godot" is an absurd, existentialist
play about two tramps waiting at a crossroads for someone named Godot, who never
comes. There are three other characters: Pozzo, a poetic man who leads around his
servant Lucky on a rope, and a Boy who comes with a message from Godot. The play
is a combination of verbal and physical comedy, and has a tragic element too....if
you haven't read it, check it out! http://samuel-beckett.net/Waiting_for_Godot_Part1.html
We plan to perform this around June 15th, in public spaces such as parks, downtown,
and maybe an invitation-only performance in a secret spot. This is a fairly short
amount of time to rehearse, so we would meet at least twice a week. There are two
of us who will be directing, and we have no interest in being tyrants of the theatre,
so everything about the production will be up for discussion. Also, all the characters
in the play are written as males, but we won't be casting with gender in mind.
Write me with questions or anything. Thanks!
