Community forum for immigrant rights
scheduled for Sacramento this Saturday;
Designed to combat ‘attacks' on immigrants

SACRAMENTO – The Coalition Against Unjust Immigration Laws (CAUIL) will
host a special forum to combat "attacks" on immigrants by local and federal
government Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Luther Burbank
High School Cafeteria (3500 Florin Rd)

Entitled "Yesterday we marched, today we organize," the forum includes
workshops and other assistance to those with concerns about a recent
crackdown by federal and local authorities on immigrants, said CAUIL, which
organized some of the big marches last year in Sacramento for immigrant
rights.

Workshops and other sessions include "Raids," "Know Your Rights," "What
you should know if you have a green card," "Non-Citizen Dos and Don'ts" and
"Gang Injunctions."

"We are holding this event in response to the daily raids in the immigrant
communities and because of the heightened focus on immigration reform,
including pending and current immigration policies and the governments
enforcement of these policies," said Cinthya Munoz of CAUIL.

"The immigrant community continues to feel unsafe and insecure because of
the pervasive effects of government actions. It is again time to call upon
the community to take affirmative steps and preventative measures to regain
confidence and security within our homes, business and neighborhoods,"
Munoz added.
