T Train 25% on time;Engineering Report on Central Subway 39% done

by [
The boondoggle, palm-greasing scheme known as the T Third train is now supposedly 25% on time, up from 12% on time, both signs of a failure in the planning stages, wasting almost $700 million from us tax payers. Meanwhile, the other palm-greasing construction project, the worthless Central Subway which is to go from 4th & King to Clay & Stockton, not solving any transportation problems, has an engineer's report that is 39% done.

This information and more with lots of charts and color graphs may be found in a memo from the San Francisco County Transportation Authority at:
http://www.sfcta.org/Meetings/Agendas/documents/CAC3rdStAPR07.pdf

Chinatown needs more buses from Stockton and Columbus to Stockton and Market; this Central Subway is an expensive palm greasing construction project that does not address that need, nor any other need, and it does not even connect to any underground transportation on Market Street.

Meanwhile, the poor planning and insufficient number of new drivers and mechanics on duty on straight time who should have been hired before the T line started, is all the fault of the Democratic Party machine and its Board of Supervisors at City Hall, who allowed this disaster to take place, destroying the entire Muni Metro reliability. People are taking buses whenever possible as none of the Metro lines are on time and these buses do not always go to the desired area, forcing a lot of people to walk or if possible, run to their destination be to be at their destination on time. 25% reliability is TOTAL FAILURE.

It is very clear that the Democratic Party of San Francisco, led by 2 anti-labor supervisors Daly and Peskin who are promoting a charter amendment that is an attack on the drivers' wages and working conditions, is determined to (1) maximize the palm-greasing for their contractor friends by building these boondoggles and (2) once built, privatize the whole thing.

Meanwhile, where is the Green Party? Before June 1, a candidate for mayor must be declared so she or he can circulate petitions for signatures in lieu of paying the filing fee in June and complete the circulation by July 26. At the very least, we could use a statement from the Green Party condemning the attack on labor by the San Francisco Democratic Party, with this proposed charter amendment. Peace & Freedom Party should do the same. Both the Democrats' failure to seriously plan the T line and the vicious attack on labor needs to be attacked by any serious workingclass candidate for mayor. The Democrats have managed to sink to new lows with this attack on public transportation and their attack on labor.
