Santa Cruz Saturday Market Create a Buzz

by Corrina McFarlane
Santa Cruz Saturday Market is set to become an institution as the City of Santa Cruz welcomes the launch of its 3rd season in the community.

Santa Cruz Saturday Market begins its 3rd season this Saturday, April 28th, in San Lorenzo Park, Set on and around the Duck Island stage and the Sister Cities Peace Pole the Market represents a grand vision. Modeled on the renowned Eugene Saturday Market (now in its 38th year) Santa Cruz market is a non-profit (that should read 'for social-profit') that seeks to enliven, enhance, enrich and enthrall with its tapestry of local and international arts and crafts, music performances, and fresh organic produce.

The Market organizers have been inspired by community markets in this country and overseas that are festive, colorful, fun, functional and informative, and that are established as a solid, on-going presence celebrating and supporting creative, vibrant, evolving community..

The Santa Cruz Saturday Market invites local 'non-profits' to have a presence at no charge and others vendors can find their fiscal sweet spot on the sliding scale. I have heard people describe the Saturday Market as 'fabulous', 'the best new initiative in Santa Cruz', 'totally impressive' and 'rad'. If you have any doubt that Spring has Sprung this is the place to be on Saturday.
