Shine is IMPACT's annual spring fundraiser on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 1:00PM at the San Francisco Women's Building in San Francisco, CA. It is powerful, meaningful and necessary. All money raised by Shine will go to scholarships. IMPACT is committed to making sure that all women can take our classes, regardless of financial situation, and our scholarship fund provides us a way to do this.
What is a Mug-a-thon?
In Shine, IMPACT alumni and friends come together to raise money to support IMPACT's scholarship fund. For each $100 in donations raised, IMPACT alumni receive one Basic, Weapons, or Multiples practice fight (or "mugging").
Shine is also a great opportunity for alumni and friends to get together, socialize, enjoy some good food and entertainment, raise awareness, and support IMPACT. It's a party - you don’t have to raise money to come by and enjoy. We invite all to come and be a part of the celebration and our Impact community. Bring your friends and family to support men and women fighting back to stop violence and sexual assault.
FEEL YOUR POWER RAFFLE
We will also be raffling off over $2000 in prizes in our "Feel Your Power" Raffle. Prizes include:
Sailing Lessons in the SF Bay
Sky Ventures Sky Diving Sessions
Rock Climbing Classes
White Water Rafting Trip
Yoga Booty Ballet Classes
IMPACT Bay Area Women's BASICS Self-Defense Class
"Kick Like a Girl" Teen Self-Defense Class
Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $20. Mail your tickets and check or cash to the IMPACT office, 146 E 12th Street, Oakland, CA 94606 and will be on sale at the event.
I have a friend who is interested in IMPACT. Can she/he come to Shine?
Of course! The first hour of Shine, from 1-2pm, is perfect for introducing IMPACT to people who haven't yet taken our classes. We'll be talking about sexual assault prevention, empowerment, and giving a short demo that the public is invited to participate in. Your friend is also welcome to come cheer for the graduates practicing in the later part of the program.
Event Schedule
12:00 NOON Registration Begins, and will be available throughout the afternoon.
1:00 PM Public demonstration of our techniques for friends, family, and community partners. This will include an opportunity for those who have not taken the class to be able to practice a bit as well.
1:30 PM Warmups, Communtiy Circle
2:00 PM Basics graduate fights
3:00 PM Upper level fights (multiples and weapons)
3:45 PM "Feel Your Power" Raffle & Closing "Yes" Circle
