As California Goes, So Goes the Country
April 5, 2007

Let’s show ‘em, California. All eyes will be upon us this month. That’s why progressive Californians are getting mobilized in the run-up to the State Democratic Convention in San Diego, April 27-29.

Please come out and meet the progressive members of Congress and leaders in the peace and justice movement.

On Thursday, March 29, PDA Advisory Board member and military mom Cindy Sheehan joined writer John Nichols (“The Genius of Impeachment”) and PDA Board Chair Mimi Kennedy at a standing room only event in Orange County.

Wed., April 4, Cindy Sheehan was joined by Democratic convention delegate and author Norman Solomon (“War Made Easy”) at an event in Sacramento.

PDA will be organizing similar events throughout California right up to the convention, including several stops in the S.F. Bay Area and L.A. county, as well as Santa Barbara, Riverside, Orange County and San Diego. Click here for schedule – to be updated as events and speakers get added.]

Let’s make the Democratic Party into a progressive party that serves the public interest and America’s emerging progressive majority.

We need your volunteer help with these events and in San Diego during the convention. Let us know if you can help. For more info, contact Judy [at] pdamerica.org.

The Democratic presidential hopefuls will be coming to San Diego, as will the national press corps. We need to mobilize from northern California to San Diego so that the presidential candidates and the media understand that California Democrats stand for a progressive agenda, including:

* End the Iraq occupation
* No Attack on Iran
* Nonprofit Single-Payer Health Insurance for All
* Clean, Transparent Elections
* Fair Trade, Not Corporatist “Free Trade”
* Investigations of the White House (with impeachment on the table)

April is “peace and justice” month in California – our time to set a standard for other states. If you have friends who were active before last November’s election or during 2004, now is the time to re-active them. Let’s have some fun . . .as we help the pendulum swing our way.

We need all the volunteer help we can get, and donations to support PDA’s California campaign. You don’t have to be a delegate to come to San Diego to lend a hand during the convention, April 27-29.

Spread the word. Progressives need to transform the Democratic Party into a principled vehicle for change…one state at a time.

California, show the way!
