Anti-Labor Democrat Supes Daly & Peskin Attack SF Muni Workers

by #
You read the headline correctly: ANTI LABOR Democratic Supervisors Chris Daly and Aaron Peskin have written an endorsement of a viciously anti-labor proposed charter amendment that may not make this November's mayoral ballot, but certainly guarantees the end of the political careers of these 2 termed-out supervisors, and good riddance to both of them. It also demonstrates the need to never vote for Democrats or Republicans.

The full endorsement is in the SF Bay Guardian "opinion", 4/18/07 at:

This despicable plan, first hatched by the viciously anti-labor Chamber of Commerce mouthpiece, San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR), was first made public in the Sunday, April 15, 2007 Chronicle at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/04/15/BAGBAP8VRE1.DTL&hw=Peskin&sn=003&sc=638

The minimal pay of $26.77 (about $55,000 a year, enough for 1 person but not a family, which needs $120,000 a year so they can buy a house which all families need) and the fought for work rules are not the problem. The problem is lack of federal tax dollars to pay for sufficient drivers, buses and trains and to eliminate fares which are a regressive tax and cannot possibly pay for Muni. The Democrats along with the Republicans in Congress are busy giving billions of dollars to murder the people of the world for oil and whatever else the war profiteers want to maximize their profits, the primary goal of a capitalist society. ANY ATTACK ON WAGES AND WORK RULES GUARANTEES A STRIKE.

Democrats Supervisors Chris Daly and Aaron Peskin have played the "progressive" card while running for and being in office in terms of being for rent control, a position that have to take in a City that is 60% tenants, the tenants being most of the workingclass whose labor is needed to make this City function. Now that they are termed out, they are showing their true Democratic Party anti-labor colors. This is why it is best to never vote for any Democrat or Republican at any level of office. It is as fundamental to be pro-labor as it is to be pro-rent control to be considered a friend of the workingclass. The Democratic Party, like the Republican Party, is anti-labor by definition, as they are both paid for by the same corporations to carry out the same anti-labor policies.

We all look forward to the Green Party and the Peace & Freedom Party running candidates for mayor, and if this proposal somehow makes the ballot this November, to campaign against it and the Democratic Party's and Chamber of Commerce's candidate, Gavin Newsom.

Meanwhile, we do not want to hear from Chris Daly or Aaron Peskin at any peace rallies, environmental rallies, tenant rallies or anything else where they can claim to be some kind of progressive when in fact they are viciously reactionary.
