9:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Global Alternative Project @ Student Union, 2nd Floor (near center of campus, off 8th street)
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Earth Day Celebrations @ 7th Street Plaza (Center of campus, off 7th street)
Join the celebration! Featuring organizations, vendors, dancers, a mini farmer's market, a speech from Ocean Robbins, and a tree planting for Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day founder.
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Fair Trade Craft Faire @ 7th Street Plaza
Sales of crafts from Ten Thousand Villages. Fair Trade Certification ensures that workers are paid fair wages, are free from abusive labor practices, and use environmentally sustainable methods.
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Ocean Robbins, Founder & Co-President, YES! “Helping Visionary Young leaders Build a Better World” @ Washington Square Hall Garden (near center of campus off 4th st)
12:00 PM – 1:15 PM: “Laptops In Africa”, with Jack McKellar, Hilary Nixon, Engineers Without Borders @ Student Union, Almaden Rm
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Memorial Tree Planting for Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day @ Washington Square Hall & Yoshihiro Uchida Hall.
