Overall yesterday's march was very good .Accoding to Kpfa this a.m. there hasn't been an actual demo in Emeryville since 1972 ! (When The Black Panther Party organized a march to denounce the Police muder of a 14 year old Black youth . )
So was great to have a pro-Labor , Pro Immigrant worker mobilization of maybe 200, 250 people .
I do have a couple of friendly criticisms though .
The rally went on too long . A hour and half of speeches for a After work rally is too long . I think at least fifty people left before the march .
Too many priests, monks , and preachers spoke . Please don't misunderstand . I respect peoples personal religious views . But this was a secular political event not a ecumenical prayer meeting ! In the future , if you have another late afternoon event please keep it short (no more than a half hour ) and only have one speaker from the '' Religious community '' before we march . Thanks for reading this . See you on May Day !
