Yosemite Slough by Candlestick Park saturated with PCBs and the most toxic area

by Francisco Da Costa
Yosemite Slough by Candlestick Park is saturated with the most dangerous PCBs. Add to that lead, mercury, Chrome waste, dumped paint and tires, and over 40 of the most dangerous toxic elements and you have a cesspool that will take millions to clean up. The Navy's radiological contamination has not helped. The slow clean up allows this Slough a few hundred feet from Parcel E and the Shipyard to continue to pollute Yosemite Slough further - every single day.
When people, foolish as they are, compare Parcel E on the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard and Yosemite Slough - the most polluted slough, with Crissy Field - they just do not know what they are talking about.

Crissy Field has its share of contaminants but was never saturated with PCBs.

Yosemite has its share of PCBs galore. Added to that lead, mercury, asbestos dust, hundreds of gallons of used paint, chrome waste, old tires, other rubbish dumped over the years - you really have a cesspool. The worst of its kind that will take millions of dollars to clean up.

It is wrong for this City and County of San Francisco to hook wink the constituents of San Francisco and allow corrupt folks like Saul Bloom aka David Saleman from Arc Ecology to head projects and try to focus on Yosemite Slough without a through clean up or abatement, and compare it with Crissy Field.

First and foremost this land comes under the jurisdiction of the Navy. The Navy is fully aware that the Yosemite Slough is polluted.

The transfer of many parcels on the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard - including Parcel E which is close to Yosemite Slough and very polluted has not taken place and will not take for many years.

The reason is simple the Navy is mandated to clean up this area and does not have the money.
The City and County of San Francisco wants the area but cannot get it unless the Regulatory Agencies certify that the land is abated or throughly cleaned up.

Corrupt forces within the City and County of San Francisco without input from the constituents of San Francisco and the Bayview Hunters Point are trying to mess with an area and convert it to a "dream and fake wet land ".

The pristine wetlands which is most of Bayview Hunters Point were filled in and polluted by you know whom.

Manys year ago all this land belonged to the First People the Muwekma Ohlone.

Espanola Jackson represents the Ohlone and knows a lot about Yosemite Slough. She can be reached by telephone at : 415.467.0535. Espanola Jackson is NOT a sell out. She is NOT on the take.

However, there are others mostly Blacks sellouts the kinds of Olin Webb, Sophie Maxwell - who work behind close doors with Saul Bloom, Jessie Mason and others to make money on projects - that do not have the blessings of the tax payer and constituents of San Francisco in general and the Bayview Hunters Point in particular.

The Ohlone know what pristine wetlands are and so you would think they would be consulted. But, Saul Bloom from Arc Ecology continues to steal, bluff and milk the community. Right now he is working closely with Marcia Rosen from SF Redevelopment Agency, Michael Cohen from the Mayors Office of Economic Development and Workforce, Jessie Blout from the same agency, Mayor Gavin Newsom, the sell out Sophina Maxwell and others mostly ignorant folks.

For years now - some corrupt entities including Arc Ecology, the BVHP Advocates, have been misrepresenting the people.

Some corrupt Blacks have NO right to represent all of Bayview. Especially some one that is ignorant like Olin Webb. He is for making money and will use any tactic to make a fast buck.

We have thousands of Latinos, Samoans, Asians, Whites, African Americans, others all kept in the dark while these few corrupt folks are making money illegally. Time to call in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In the case of Saul Bloom the California, Attorney General - Jerry Brown.

This comparison of Yosemite Slough and the surrounding area and linking it with Crissy Field must stop at once. The area around Yosemite Slough is very toxic and children should not go near it.

There are other groups like Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) that too lend their support to Arc Ecology -because of grants linked to the Yosemite Project. Even the Jesuit University, USF is helping Arc Ecology without fully understanding the adverse ramifications and having NOT held one single community meeting about this Yosemite Slough Project.

Arc Ecology does not have the blessings of the community of Bayview Hunters Point constituents.
This was clearly stated many times at the SF Redevelopment meetings linked with Arc Ecology's failed outreach and lack of accountability and transparency.

It is time to send Saul Bloom aka David Saleman packing to some place for where he first came. No one wants to question about the dubious activities of this man and Arc Ecology.

Saul Bloom is on the Citizens Advisory Committee to Parcel A and the conveyed area to the City and County of San Francisco. He is also on the Environmental Committee.

This is a conflict of interest when he pushed for thousands of dollars to be given to him and Arc Ecology - to do outreach. Saul Bloom does not live in San Francisco and does not live in the Bayview Hunters Point. He is an outsider and will remain a dubious outsider.

No outreach is done and using foolish folks like Jesse Mason - Arc Ecology and Jessie Mason do not serve the people of Bayview Hunters Point.

Bottom line Yosemite Slough must be cleaned by the Navy.

It should then get all the certificates from the Regulatory Agencies. This pertinent fact must be made know to the constituents of San Francisco and the Bayview Hunters Point.

Special attention must be paid to Cumulative Pollution. Our children and groups that have children should not be allowed to go near Yosemite Slough. This is plain wrong.

Just like Pier 98 that is very polluted. No children should be allowed to go to Pier 98.
