The Head Of the Police Officers Association attacks Commissioner David Campos
David Campos speaks on the lowest Priority enforcement priorities and civilian oversight of officers not following these priorities and is confronted by the angry buddy of an out of control cross deputized vice cop
The Head Of the Police Officers Association attacks Commissioner David Compos When He Breaks the “Code of Silence” and calls for his resignation in an attempt to prevent civilian oversight of the police force
When speaking to a local civic group of medical cannabis patients and disability activists supporting the local and state laws concerning medical cannabis Police Commissioner Campos expressed his concern that officers were not following the lowest law enforcement priorities in San Francisco. Campos expressed concern that some officers were cross deputized with the DEA and following Federal priorities and going after cannabis patients and growers aggressively. Medical Cannabis users are an easy target in the war on drugs- easy because they often operate in the open. Stephanie Landa, a recent case, in fact, went to the police to report her grow and thought she was cooperating with them, only to have the SFPD cooperate with the federal authorities to have her charged. Campos expressed that this type of policing is not in keeping with spirit of the local laws and that he wondered how certain police, who were often complained about were getting promoted. In fact, one officer- Michael Holloran has used the Police Officers Association phone to call local cannabis activist to harass them and has many civilian complaints. He is also "frequently decorated" by the force.
The statement by Campos so enraged Gary Delagnes , Holloran’s close friend, according to Delagnes statement to the commission, that he called for Commissioner Campos resignation last week. The Police Comission’s job is oversight of the Department which it must do whenever the department is caught between political entities. It must give clear and decisive direction to prevent the federalizing of our police force in order to prevent the subjective enforcement of laws. If lowest priority enforcement is the will of the voters and our politicians then the police do not get to decide whether or not they will, on their whim enforce federal laws instead. Unless the Police officers Association succeeds in gagging its civilian Oversight leaders like Commissioner Campos.
Axis of Love, a patients advocacy group is calling for all activists, patients and people just plain sick of the cops messing with the first amendment rights of people and the , now even the Politicians of the land- to come to April 11th for Police commission Public Comment. It is usually at City hall at 5:30pm
