AMFA Press Conference: Independent Audit Concludes UAL Violated
Maintenance Outsourcing Agreement
WHAT:
An independent maintenance audit conducted by Moss-Adams LLP reveals
that United Airlines (NASDAQ: UAUA) violated a key clause of its
agreement with its mechanics' union, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal
Association (AMFA).
Joseph Prisco, AMFA Local 9 President said, "The audit also supports
AMFA's position that UAL abdicated responsibility for direct performance
of safety sensitive aircraft maintenance to an extent that is neither
contractually permitted nor in the best interest of the traveling
public.
In the past six years, UAL reduced its maintenance workforce by over
50%." Thousands of mechanics remain on layoff.
