Animal Cruelty at Stevens Creek Honda

by Jennifer (Jennifer84a [at] aol.com)
A salesperson from Stevens Creek Honda chased a Jack Russell terrier to his death on Stevens Creek blvd. It is apparently a huge joke to the dealership. Please read
So I'm on a test drive and pass by Stevens Creek Honda and see one of their sales people chasing a dog out into the street (STEVENS CREEK! During Traffic!!!!!). So I pull up and return my test car a couple lots up the road and haul my butt over to Stevens Creek Honda, only to find a dead dog.

Yes, accidents do happen. But upon walking up a very overweight black guy laughs and taunts me to go look at the dog as he kicks at it saying its dead and laughing. Long story short...the whole ordeal was a huge joke to them. Even after speaking to the manager, he did not care it was his people and didn't even question them. All sales people deny seeing the dog on their lot, even though we all know how they watch the lot like hawks to find customers. Even the person who hit the dog said it ran out of their lot. Down the main driveway!!!!!!!!!!!

All the manager has to do is look at the video to see who chased the dog into the street. Who knows...maybe he told them to do it. They were extremely rude and laughed it all off.

We took the dog to an emergency vet to check for a microchip but there was nothing. It was a Jack Russell with a black collar that said something. A few hours later we received phone calls from people pretending to be owners (the salesman) to find out where the deceased dog was. We also received many threatening phone calls.

I just want everyone to be aware of this incident. We all know the way people treat animals reflects the way they treat people. Would you do business with someone like that?

Thank you for posting this. I had read it on Craigslist. I was so appalled. I posted it on my myspace page and now hundreds and thousands of people know about it. People are emailing me asking for the telephone number and calling in. I even think it has made it's way to Tom.

But I just wanted to thank you for posting this!

by many deaths from vehicular homicide
Could have just as easily been a human child killed by that speeding Stevens Creek Honda vehicle. There was once an incident in an urban neighborhood intersection when a speeding SUV hit a pedestrian. Within minutes a mob formed and dragged the driver out of the SUV, the SUV itself was vandalized. Beyond being scuffed up a bit the driver was uninjured, though the pedestrian suffered broken bones and hospital time/bills as a result of the collision, never something anybody asks for. Many more people, dogs and cats are outright killed and ignored along the roadside by vehicular homicide for days while police shrug their shoulders helplessly..

Dogs remain the best friends of peoples in the US and elsewhere, and any harm to them from carelessness or accident is not welcome. For anybody to outright laugh, mock and taunt the death of this animal shows a disturbing form of coldness, possibly won from decades of oppression of the human spirit by violence of a corporate polcie state. All the more reason the current corporatist fascist government of GW Bush needs to be removed from their ill gotten seats of power. The GW bush regime and their CEO cohorts in big corporate oil (ie., ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, BPShellAamaco and ConocoPhillips) are directly responsible for fueling the promotions of car culture and materialism as signs of success. Furthermore, the CEOs stifle alternative forms of safer and more efficient public or shared transit, bicycles, walking, etc.. increasing our dependecy on single vehicles, petroleum consumption, not like using food for fuel is any better. The next level of corporate domination is coming from the Cargill, ADM, Monsanto, etc.. biotech gene engineered GMO monoculture that suppresses the biodiversity of genetic strains corn or maize as ecologically sustainalbe food for people. Biotech GMO is patented by said corporations for gene resistance to a matching toxic petrochemical pesticide or herbicide. This results in rural farmers remaining trapped on the pesticide treadmill, as pest species (minus beneficial predators) are able to evolve resistance to that brand of pesticide, meaning farmers are required to purchase newer pesticides every few seasons. In this quest for power a great many human beings suffer, from humans to mammals, plants, insects, etc..

There are other options for rural farmers besides biotech GMO monoculture, these being permaculture that relies on various intercropping with native plant species and other food species, allowing riparian corridors and trees to provide habitat for beneficial predator species. Rural farmworkers also prefer non-pesticide permaculture farms as their healths suffer the most from exposure to toxic petrochemical pesticides..

Find out what toxic pesticides are used in your region;
http://www.pesticideinfo.org/Index.html

As a frequent bicycle rider vehicular homicide of animals is a daily reality, that one careless turn with the speeding SUV could be the end of me and many others. Along my seasonal rural routes i notice many, many, many dead dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects (butterfly pollinators), etc.. all suffered their death from vehicular homicide..

It would be interesting for this overweight 'black' African-american Stevens Creek Honda employee who kicked the dead roadside dog to visit Nigeria's Ogoni people and witness the ecological devastation caused the African people living at the mouth of the Niger river delta following decades of oil well drilling by Shell and Chevron. This sort of cruelty to animals calls for a non-violent kidnapping and blindfolded transport of said Stevens Creek Honda employee to the Niger River delta's petroleum rigs, where gas flaring and frequent oil spills resulting from corporate negligence contaminate the fish and wild rice ecosystem of the Niger delta's Ogoni peoples. Then he can personally witness the devastating effects of his petroleum consuming lifestyle and his cynical cruelty on the people of the Niger delta who may be his long lost relations following centuries of the slave trade..

"It documents a remarkable global initiative in 1999, led by women, to halt Nigerian burning of natural gas. Shell and other oil companies in Nigeria flare or burn off most gas that comes out of the well at the same time that oil is produced. These massive fires spew out more carbon emissions than all of the rest of sub-Saharan Africa combined. Environmentalists in Nigeria, notably from among the Ogoni, Ijaw and other ethnic groups in the oil-rich Niger Delta, have persistently attempted to douse these ‘flames of sHELL’.

One such attempt in 1999 was dubbed ‘Operation Climate Change.’ Ogoni women and their allies staged simultaneous actions in Nigeria and the UK. These actions were symbolic shut-downs of Shell on an international basis. Actors in this international political drama publicized the explicit connections between the destruction of the Africans’ economy and the destruction of the global ecosystem by Shell’s persistent practice of burning off associated natural gas. Nigerian peasant women asked for solidarity from women and other international activists in a joint campaign to protect life by putting a stop to the depredations of Big Oil.

This coordinated, international action and others that followed suggest tactics that, if adopted more generally today, promise to deliver success in the complex struggle to reverse climate change. In September 2006 the Abuja Declaration on energy sovereignty was produced by an international network. It called for an ecofeminist global initiative to stop oil exploration and production and to redirect the super profits of the oil multinationals towards clean-up, reparations, and the transition to safe energy alternatives under democratic control."

All this wage slavery combined with petroelum exploitation in Nigeria for the Euro-american imperialist US corporate petroleum culture is damaging to the souls of African (and ALL) peoples, as witnessed by this Stevens Creek Honda employee's behavior..

We would certainly expect some sort of personality change in our Stevens Creek employee following this eXperience in Nigeria, maybe the former Stevens Creek employee could provide assistance as a language translator when the Chevron-Texaco petroleum rigs are occupied by indigenous Nigerians??

We reflect frequently on the words and actions taken by Ms. Condoleeza Rice and how her minority status as 'African-american' on the GW Bush regime shows her willingness to turn her backside to her Africans brothers and sisters, both in the US and Africa. Her injustice to the Ogoni people in Africa is recognized by Chevron's occupation of Nigeria's rivers to result in her having an oil tanker named after her. Like Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote in "Uncle Tom's Cabin", certain people are willing to sell their own brothers and sisters down the river into wage slavery in return for material wealth and limited power under the Euro-american "Man", in this case the GW Bush/Cheney cabal. To a lesser extent this pattern of oppression repeats on down the heirarchal system of US capitalist wage slavery. Certainly Mumia Abu Jamal who resides on PA's death row after being framed for being an outspoken defender of Philly's own MOVE family of Ramona Africa wouldn't be so lucky to have an oil tanker named after him? How many other African-americans are in the US prison system for a non-violent drug offense (ie., cannabis) working in the prison asembling computers for below minimum wage??

Animal cruelty and cruelty to human beings are linked beyond a doubt. When we neglect the suffering of our fellow humans, the neglect to the suffering of animals is there alongside. We cannot continue to proceed along the evolutionary spiral path if we continue to oppress one another over petty differences (skin, culture, religion, sexuality, etc..) OR if we continue to abuse and neglect animals. This includes the many 'wild' animals struggling to find those far apart greenways where riparian corridors, forests and wetlands should connect their habitats in a life supporting web. The intersection of many, many roads with many, many fast moving vehicles is a primary reason for the near extinction of BOTH native species (Florida panther) and continuous loss of dogs, cats and other human pets. In addition many unnamed human pedestrians (CHILDREN!!) and bicycle riders lose their lives on a daily basis to vehicular homicide without a peep from US corporate media. We need a tomb of the unknown soldier in the US for all pedestrians and animals killed by vehicular homicide mislabled as 'accidental death'..

For those who choose to drive a motor vehicle, please be careful and avoid killing ANY humans, dogs, cats, birds and any other living beings. Thanks for your concerns..

Besides contacting the company's headquarters, it might be also useful to contact the local Humane Society for further advice on action needed as the Honda headquaters might just turn a deaf ear on this incident to protect their image. I will post this onto Myspace page too so more local people will be aware of it. Thanks for posting this.

To the morons at Stevens Creek Honda: Hope you TRULY enjoyed your 'belly' laugh. It's time for the community to avoid service and sales at Stevens Creek Honda. I am writing a letter to Honda and posting this article further on the Internet. There are people who don't find your act amusing or the least bit funny. Let's see how they feel about it and how helpful their opinions will be as you try to sell vehicles for a living. Perhaps the memory of such a 'good time' will help pass your time in the unemployment line. Oh, don' forget to use it on you resume!

I just dont understand how anyone could knowingly do this. I mean call animal control, or catch the dog and take him to the shelter. I am sure that this little dog was a big threat to their car sales. Whatever, this person needs to be sited for animal cruelity for sure! This was somones pet and now lives have been torn apart due to someone that was just plain STUPID! He should be fired no doubt in my mind!

If this story is true, I will never buy another Honda product. Absolutely disgusting. It's not like it was some wild animal threatening them on their lot; it was a little dog, probably under 20 pounds. To the salesman who laughed at the death of the dog: do you feel like a big man now? Are you proud of yourself? What a pathetic man.
The dealership needs to address this incident and fire everyone who was involved.

Stevens Creek Honda will care a lot more about what they say then any corporate Honda rep. We know that car salesmen aren't known for their morales, but this is just too vicious.

I wouldn't say you should totally stay away from Honda products because of this one incident. Car dealerships are like franchises, anyone can have them if you have the right money so it's not like the salesmen were hand picked by Honda.

Still, we have a jack russell and this really ticks me off. If I were younger I would probably organize a meet and hurl ton's of dog excrement all over their cars.

After as thorough an investigation as was possible in a case with such limited information, it appears that the Honda Dealership was most likely not at fault in the dog's death, nor does it appear that they did anything inappropriate afterwards. Here is the report from Judy, a fellow activist who did most of the legwork:

"Thanks for your help. After I did a protest at KFC today I went to the
Stevens Creek Honda dealership. I spoke with three different
salespeople who all gave me the same story and they were very nice.
They all said that Jennifer told them that the dog was chased out of
the Mercedes dealership. Then the dog ran up on their property, they
showed me the blood stain on the pavement. They got a cardboard box
and put the dog in and moved it to a grassy area out of the traffic
lanes on the dealership property. Jennifer's father, who was with her,
yelled at them not to move the body and then he came up and took the
box with the dog. He would not tell them where they were taking the
dog. They told me that the dog owner came by and thanked them for
caring for the dog. She is a San Jose State student who had left her
dog with her mother for the day and the dog got out. She told them
that she had two Jack Russell terriers, one of which died about six
weeks ago. They conveyed to me that they were very sorry what happened
to the dog. One of the guys said that he has three dogs of his own.
They told me that they are getting many threatening phone calls, even
people threatening to run over them. The three sales people came
together and talked to me and not once did their story vary and they
seemed very sincere."

Please do not call the dealership about this issue any more. We may never know the complete truth, but I am satisfied that the dealership at least was not directly responsible for the death of the dog. While my original post made it clear that the voracity of the report was not yet determined and that people should only ask questions to try and find out the truth, supposedly some folks have been calling the dealership and making threats. I certainly hope nobody on this list did so!
by Let's not threaten anyone, it's not nice!
Real funny changing the story and making people (animal rights activists) look foolish and/or extreme for demanding some sort of consequences for mocking the death of the dog. So the Stevens Creek Honda employee never laughed and kicked the dead dog now did he? Maybe that one way trip to the petroleum platform in Nigeria to serve as a translator was a bit too extreme??

Well since we've already gone there in percieved error we're not going back on our word either. So for now the Stevens Creek Honda employee is off the hook and needn't worry about any unscheduled transport to the Niger river delta petroleum platforms. However, there are other individuals who are directly responsible for the wholescale slaughter of people, pets and wildlife ecosystems (includes global warming) by their continued promotion of individual car culture and the suppression of accessible public transit. We also have a remedy for this problem..

The next step in this little game of petrochemical monopoly we're playing with the power elite is to arrange a non-violent kidnapping of ANY CEO from any of the major US petroleum corporations (ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, British Petroleum) and their henchmen in big 3 auto corporations (Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler) and the petroleum infrastructure providers (Halliburton, Bechtel, etc..), next down in teir are the petrochemical biotech pesticide CEOs, (DuPont, Bayer, Monsanto, etc..) and there's a few others on the list..

We're aware of the security risks imc will be taking by publishing these 'threats', so here's the deal, unless anyone is legit decleared insane this will all be a humorless joke, for entertainment purposes only!!

To think we'ld actually be silly enough to attempt a non-violent kidnapping a CEO of a major petroleum corporation!! That's really stretching our abilities!!

Does anyone really believe that we're that crazy??

Here's some stats for those legally insane ransom seeking bounty hunters;

"Big Oil Companies Have Experienced Record Profits of Nearly $34 Billion Since Bush Took Office. The higher overall gasoline prices have cost the American consumer a net of over $25 billion during Bush's first term in office. This money has gone directly from consumers' pocketbooks into the hands of oil companies and oil producers, including OPEC. The big three oil companies in America have profited $33.6 billion over the past three years alone. [Based on EIA Monthly Energy Review; ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco and ConocoPhillips Company Financial Reports]

2004 Profits for ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, and ConocoPhillips Broke Records Across All Industries-Not Just the Oil Industry. According to the Washington Post, "Oil companies reported record profits last year-and not just records for oil companies. Royal Dutch Shell earned $18.54 billion, while BP lagged behind with a net income of $15.73 billion, a company best. ExxonMobil broke the U.S. record by reporting a 2004 profit of $25.33 billion, taking the title away from Ford. ConocoPhillips's profit for the year rose 72 percent, while ChevronTexaco's grew 84 percent." Exxon's 2004 revenues were a company record: $298.03 billion. In February, Exxon surpassed General Electric Co. to become the largest U.S. corporation by stock market value. [Washington Post, 2/13/05; Associated Press, 4/13/05]

…And Record CEO Salaries

ExxonMobil CEO Received $38 Million in Bonuses, Despite Soaring Oil Prices. According to the Associated Press, "Buoyed by high oil prices, ExxonMobil Corp. had a record-breaking year in 2004 and chairman and chief executive Lee R. Raymond shared in the company's success with a $38 million compensation package… Exxon said that Raymond, 66, was paid $7.5 million in salary and bonus plus restricted stock worth $28 million and nearly $2.6 million more in other compensation and incentives, according to Exxon's proxy filed Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission." [AP, 4/13/05]

ChevronTexaco CEO Received Nearly $10 Million in Bonuses and Stock Options. According to the Los Angeles Times, "ChevronTexaco Corp. Chief Executive David O'Reilly's compensation rose 2.2 percent last year to $9.98 million as soaring oil and fuel prices boosted profit at the second-biggest U.S. oil company." O'Reilly's salary rose 15 percent to $1.51 million; his bonus climbed 25 percent to $3.95 million; and he received options valued at $3.48 million. Other compensation, including payouts of vested performance shares and use of the company's aircraft, totaled $1.05 million. First, if a dog runs in front of my car during heavy traffic I am running it over. I would NEVER risk human life to save any type of animal and none of you should either. To the person who posted this article: Why should a car dealership care about a lost dog? Should you not be more angry at the owner of this dog for not properly caring for it or training it? A dog on a car lot is a huge liability and any intelligent business owner would immediately chase it off. I own two dogs of my own (lab and shepard mix) and I love them but people, you need to draw the line somewhere. Should you not be on another forum or out in public protesting the hundreds of PEOPLE dying in Iraq and Africa instead of wasting your breath and time on a single dead dog? Hello, humans dying? There is a GENOCIDE happening in Africa right now in Darfur or were you too busy talking to your dog to notice? All you hippies who think animals should be "liberated" or share even close to the same rights as humans should leave modern society to live amongst the animals in the wilderness. When you're ready to come back to your senses, your species will still welcome you back. You're welcome.

or stop by and yell and scream demand reperations tell coustomers the story and ask them how they feel about their sales person. we all need to become involved in correcting the behavior at Stevens Creek Honda

by Beyond starvation, no excuse 4 doggycide!!
Well, this hippie is proud to be an animal lover and doesn't feel like an unreal person at all. At the same time, this hippie also loves ALL humans despite the current ecological crisis our species has brought upon this Earth. What people are beginning to realize if they open up to life is that ALL living beings deserve our respect and love. Documented evidence indicates that following abuse of animals by humans, mental/physical/emotional abuse of humans by humans isn't that far away..

How we treat the most helpless members of our society is how we are judged by others. International occupations of weaker nations by US military complete with sanctioned torture of dissidents here & abroad, invasion of civilian's privacy (Patriot Act, DHS, etc..) combined with police brutality here against the homeless, imprisoning (yet not educating) our youth, people of color and the constant abuse of ALL animals, domestic, wild and otherwise, we're not doing so well in the ethical realm now, are we? According to their level of involvement, with the petroleum CEOs and GW Bush regime as leaders in petroleum profits seem to have the greatest influence on our collective addiction to the petroleum lifestyle that leads to US military occupations in Iraq and genocide in Darfur..

Overextension of our petroleum infrastructure globally is leading the the destruction of ecosystem habitats everywhere, including the human permaculture villages where nature was/is central, before the mass ghetto-ization of WTO 'free trade' policies that resulted in land displacement and herding of rural farmers, herders and other landless refugees into cities with sprawling suburbia..

The genocide in Darfur is another manifestation of global petroleum dependency, the Sudanese government is deeply entrenched in theocratic pacts with the Saudi Royalty and their financial/military benefactors in the GW Bush regime. In addition, multinational oil corporations are arming either the Sudanese government or the Darfur rebels depending on their petroleum options over given time. This international occupation of Sudan results in both Darfur villagers and 'Janjaweed' nomads being pawns in the battle over resources. The Sudanese villagers in Darfur and elsewhere who are being attacked by government sponsored militias are only targeted because of their location, or precisely what lies under their feet, another petroleum reserve..

"So, the Khartoum government wants to ensure that it is able to control the [oil] reserves and use those resources for its own geopolitical aspirations. Substitute "USA" for "Khartoum" and we have US foreign policy all over the world. Given the not-so-slick U.S. oil policies and pursuits all over the world is it unreasonable to assume that U.S. oil interests have targeted Darfur’s oil by any means necessary?

"My gut feeling is that there is far more oil in Sudan than any of the oil companies are admitting publicly. ‘Official’ information—i.e. oil consulting firms’—states that there are an estimated 2.62 billion barrels of oil reserves in Sudan. But I've also seen other unofficial estimates that put the figure into the 180 billion barrels figure. At today's oil prices, 180 billion barrels is enough money for most CEOs to sell their soul to the devil for. And some are definitely doing it."

So, oil company executives would sell their souls to the devil to get at Sudan’s oil? Hmmm. I wonder what that means? Does it mean that those quick-draw petroleum companies that beat out competitors to stick their derricks in the oil in Sudan would sell their souls to the devil—Arabs on horseback—to get at the oil? Does it mean that those slow-draw petroleum companies that were left dangling their derricks in the wind will sell their soul to the devil—lying, cheating, stirring up insurgency, arming madmen, screaming "genocide" like so many wolves disguised as sheep?

In fact, the most powerful entities in America may be supporting those who are screaming genocide ("Save Darfur!"), on the one hand, while actively engaging the culprits (the Government of Sudan) in business, on the other. It doesn’t seem to cross anyone’s mind that there might be competing business interests at work, from within the United States, Europe and Israel, and that these even involve Arab and Asian interests, including Taiwan, Japan, India and South Korea, and that these competing business interests are jockeying for control of Sudan."
