Fourth Annual Bay-Friendly Garden Tour

Volunteers Needed!

Dear Bay-Friendly Supporter,

Spring is just around the corner and so is our Fourth Annual Bay-Friendly Garden Tour. The tour is slated for Sunday, April 29th from 10 am - 4 pm . Your continuing interest in the Bay-Friendly Gardening over the past few years has helped to keep the program vibrant and strong. We would love to have you join us to help with this year’s unique and exciting tour.

This year’s tour is the biggest so far – 41 gardens, 38 of which haven’t been featured previously! There are 11 geographic clusters (including Fremont, Sunol, Livermore, Emeryville, San Leandro and 6 in Oakland alone) many of which are bikeable and walkable. Of course, the tour continues to showcase the diverse styles of Bay-Friendly gardens – Mediterranean retreats, native plants, edible gardens and garden designed for children.

We are looking for volunteers to help make the day a success and support our host gardeners. One shift lasts 3.5 hours, allowing time to see other gardens in a cluster. Volunteers help the host gardeners by greeting guests, distributing information and answering questions. We will do our best to match volunteers to the gardens and/or location of their choice.

In return, volunteers will meet other like-minded gardeners and receive a Bay-Friendly Gardening organic cotton t-shirt, an advanced copy of the tour book, and garden gifts while furthering the goals of Bay-Friendly Gardening—encouraging the use of ecological gardening practices in order to conserve local resources and protect the Bay.
