The Yolo County Board of Supervisors approved an update of the 2006-07 fee
schedule for medical marijuana identification cards Tuesday.
The implementation of the medical marijuana identification card program in
Yolo County was approved by the Board on Feb. 27. Tuesday's action was the
third and final reading of the ordinance.
The adoption of the fees into the master fee resolution will now cover the
cost associated with program implementation.
With the change, there will be no fiscal effect to the general fund.
Senate Bill 420 required the California Department of Health Services to
establish and maintain a statewide medical marijuana registry program for
patients who fall in the Compassionate Use Act, or Proposition 215, which
passed in 1996.
Established in 2004, the Medical Marijuana Program allows licensed
physicians to issue a certificate for qualified patients and their primary
caregivers to apply for identification cards for legal medical use
marijuana.
