Cleantech America LLC Hires San Joaquin Valley Manager To Promote Clean Energy

by Mark Stout (m.stout [at] cleantechamerica.com)
FRESNO, CA… Cleantech America LLC, a San Francisco-based developer of utility-scale, environmentally clean solar farms, has hired Mark Stout as its San Joaquin Valley Manager of Community and Government Relations.
“As a company, we believe the San Joaquin Valley is ideally suited for large scale peak solar power generation,” said Cleantech CEO Bill Barnes. “The Valley has excellent sun characteristics. PV solar creates no green house gases so it is a natural solution for regional air quality issues. And we believe central peak solar will be a magnet for renewable energy economic development. Mark is a perfect fit with our vision for the Valley.”

Stout has a long career in renewable energy. He is a former Renewable Energy Consultant with the Union of Concerned Scientists, campaigning for the California Renewables Portfolio Standard, which was eventually signed into law in 2002. He later worked as a California Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst with the Office of Ratepayer Advocates, developing policy proposals to mitigate the impact of rate increases during the 2001 energy crisis.

Stout is a Business Member of the Northern California Solar Energy Association and a long-time promoter of solar in the Central Valley for clean air, energy independence, and job creation. He was the Coordinator of the first-ever Fresno Solar Homes Tour, winning NorCal Solar's "Best New Solar Tour 2005" award. Most recently, he handled Major Accounts with Unlimited Energy, the oldest and largest locally-owned solar power contractor in the Fresno region.

Stout graduated Summa Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois - Urbana, and earned his Master's degree in Energy and Resources from UC Berkeley.

“Commercializing solar photovoltaic for both utility-scale and smaller distributed applications is our best athway to reducing electricity prices with no local air quality or global climate impacts. I am very excited to be working with Cleantech America on greening our Valley,” Stout said.
