Iraqi Refugees

by drew dunbrack
Voluntary agencies, such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC), are providing outreach services to Iraqi nationals who wish to apply for family or friends (who are refugees now in Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt) to enter the US Refugee Program.
The US has announced limited processing of refugees from Iraq who are now in Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. If you are an Iraqi national who has family or friends in any of these countries, you are eligible to apply for an Affidavit of Relationship that will refer them for consideration to the US Refugee Program. The primarily eligibility requirement is that the person(s) be registered with the UNHCR and that the relative or friend filing have legal permanent status of any kind in the U.S. The International Rescue Committee (IRC), with multiple offices in California, can facilitate the process for no charge. For any questions, please contact the IRC at http://www.theirc.org/sf
