Pelosi gets DC home demo, Mikulski fires back at office protestors

by WSQT Guerrilla Radio 87.9 FM in DC (WSQTradio [at] hushmail.com)
On March 15, Code Pink staged home demo at Nancy Pelosi's apartment in DC at 3030 K st NW.
Earlier that same day, MD Senator Mikulski asked protestors "what do you want us to vote against-the bullets?" Mikulski then stated she won't vote to cut off funding.

The Code Pink action was in solidarity with protestors who have camped out in front of Pelosi's home in California, and was originally intneded to be a camp-out as well.

Security scrambled to respond when Code pink arrived on the property, but the police declined to act after Code Pink retreated back to the sidewalk.

Nancy Pelosi soon got lucky as bad weather moved in. As soon as I saw those wet sleeping bags, I guessed correctly that this would be a one-day home demo and not a sustained campout.

Also on March 15, another Capitol hill demo was slated for the House Appropriations Committee hearings on the supplemental for the Iraq war. Cops told everyone that all public space was taken for a "high school tour group" and refused to admit anyone. This led to a noisy scene in the Reaburn, and cops even clearing the sidewalk outside the Rayburn by some reports. Before it was over, 11 people were arrested(one still held on bogus charges of assaulting a cop as this is posted.) Audio for this segment is from INSIDE the police wagon, courtesy of Pacifica Radio, as part of the Nancy Pelosi audio piece.

Still, all those home and office demos targetting mebers of Congre$$ are starting to get under their skin!

With MD Senator Barbara Mikulsk having had her office occupied again and agian, she has finally released a statement responding to the protests. Unfortunatly, she has stated she has no intention of simply voting down the supplemental appropriation for the war in Iraq. She seems to think troops would be left in Iraq without pay, armor, or ammo.

In reality they would be paid and armed with funds spent illegally(IMPEACHABLE). Bush would rather risk inmpeachment than a mutiny. It is also possible Bush would pull the troops out when funding was cut off.
