FILM SCREENING as a benefit for Black Mesa families resisting relocation
Saturday, March 10th @ 7:00pm
At the Resource Center for Nonviolence - 515 Broadway, Santa Cruz (by the intersection of Ocean and Broadway).

The film “Broken Rainbow” is an Academy Award winning documentary on the struggle of the Dineh (Navajo) people at Black Mesa, Arizona, who have been cast aside to make room for the environmentally devastating practice of mining coal, oil, uranium, and natural gas. The Dineh and their supporters have been battling with Peabody Coal, the BIA, and state/local governments for over 30 years to stop a forced relocation from their homeland and the continuation/ expansion of mining operations.

The screening will be followed by a brief period of question/answer and discussion.

Black Mesa benefit concert:
Wednesday, March 14th, from 9pm-1am at 418 Front St.
with Naomi, New Thrill Parade, Sourgrass, Ghost Tree and a possible special performance by Diane Patterson.

ALL donated funds from these events will be used for the purchase of food, medicine, and other essential supplies for Dineh resisters’ on an upcoming supply and support run from Santa Cruz.

Since the beginning of the Big Mountain resistance elders would say: “We are resisting relocation and the coal mining not only for ourselves but for the whole world. Black Mesa must not be desecrated because of its sacredness --it provides life to all living things including all the human races.”

Support native resistance - Save Black Mesa!

So the supply/work crew caravan is leaving today, ya? If it isn't too sensitive, I'd love to know more how many people/cars are heading down to Black Mesa (how much material solidarity is actually coming from this bubble coastal town of Santa Cruz), and hear updates on the situation down on Black Mesa as they happen.

There is an all-out war between wild and free life on one side and industrial civilization on the other. Which side are you on, by your (in)actions? The strip mine is going to power Las Vegas and Southern California and Arizona's stupid fucking blinking lights. Who's going to turn those lights off?
