Heather Fong and Kamala Harris to be Keynote Speakers at the ICA’s Career Day

On March 14th, Chief of Police, Heather Fong and District Attorney Kamala Harris will deliver keynote addresses to the student body in the E.L. Wiegand Theater at Immaculate Conception Academy at 9:30 AM.

Career Day, a biennial event of long standing, is a great opportunity for young women to get a closer look at the pros and cons of careers that they may be considering for themselves. Students will hear speeches from two of San Francisco’s most influential women. This will precede presentations by another eight dynamic women who will share how they turned their passions into successful careers. The theater will be filled with young women eager to hear from these women who are so well able to explain how they have achieved fulfilling, successful lives in their chosen work.

Three of the presenters are ICA graduates. Dana Sims, ’89, is a talent agent for the William Morris Agency. One of her clients, Ludacris, recently was awarded two Grammys. The others are Vanessa Yanez, ’89, Enterprise Media Relations Executive for Hewlett Packard, and Terry Scannell, Ph.D., “80, a psychologist. Amongst the other presenters are Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Deanne Fizmaurice, San Francisco Police Department’s Quality Assurance Manager for the Forensic Services Division, Marty Blake, Levis Strauss Foundation’s Worldwide Community Affairs Executive Director,Theresa Fay-Bustillos, Karen Bell, Executive Director of Fisherman’s Community Benefit District and nurse Anna Vela.
