Dear medical marijuana supporter,
Next week, the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors
will be conducting a hearing on the implementation of
the statewide medical marijuana ID card program.
Once the voluntary program is made available, local
patients will have the opportunity to obtain the ID
cards through the county's Health Department. The
program requires volunteers give up their right against self
incrimination and signing up will likely result in the detainment,
arrest and seizure of the medicine for those who choose
to become cardholders.
If you live in Tuolumne County, please take a few
minutes to contact the Board of Supervisors to express
your disdain for this Nazi like program.
Please e-mail or call the following board members,
politely urging them to direct staff to delay
accepting applications for the ID cards until the privacy concerns
are dealt with. Feel free to
use the sample e-mail message, posted at the bottom of
this communication.

Honorable Members of the Board of Supervisors,
I am writing you today to ask that you cast a vote
directing the Public Health Department to delay implementing
the statewide medical marijuana ID card program in
Tuolumne County until local patients will no longer be more at risk
for Federal persecution by having a card.
The county's implementation of this program is a
requirement of state law, but there is no date set for compliance.
The law in question is SB420 which was passed by the legislature to
clarify proposition 215. The state constitution requires that the
legislature not violate voter propositions. Prop 215 was enacted " to
ensure that the patients and their primary caregivers who obtain and
use marijuana for medical purposes upon the recommendation of a
physician are not subject to criminal prosecution or sanction." Once
the program is in place, the photos gathered will be used by the
federal government to identify the names of cannabis patients thus
exposing them to "criminal prosecution or sanction." A recent report
in the San Francisco Chronicle described how US cannabis card holders
were detained and sent back at the Canadian.
The card program will be of great determent to patients and won't
help law
enforcement in our county.
Local patients have already suffered far too long. I am counting on
your vote to protect the sick, disabled, and dying in our county from
unnecessary arrest and persecution by the Federal Government.
Thank you,
