On the CA State Holiday of the Birthday of Cesar Chavez, Saturday, March 31, 2007
7PM-9PM at Pagesincolor.com 888 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA:

DVD Movie: Fighting For Our Lives: The United Farm Workers 1973 Grape Strike

This movie is a look back at the history of the United Farm Workers movement. In 1973, the growers brought in the Teamsters in a failed attempt to break up the 1973 Grape Strike. This movie is in English, but it has a fair amount of protesters’ dialog in Spanish, so if you only know Spanish you might get the gist of it.

This movie will be preceded by the 15 minute movie “Realizing Cesar Chavez’s Dream” (Realizando el Sueno de Cesar Chavez) in Spanish.

The movie will be followed by two other short films:

“Celebration of Life: United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO” in English

And

“No Grapes”, Narrated by Mike Farrell, in English

Suggested donation of $5-$20. No one turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds, minus a small fee to cover the cost of the room, will be donated to the United Farm Workers.
The movies will be simulcast on a 24” TV that is not wheelchair accessible and on a 13” TV that is wheelchair accessible. The restroom is not wheelchair accessible.
