Senate Votes on Funding for Public Housing: Call Today!
Our Senators will vote this week on a joint funding resolution which could help fill the $1 billion shortfall for Public Housing. Now is the time to call to urge Senators Boxer and Feinstein to increase funding levels!
Public Housing budgets have been cut by $1 billion since Bush has taken office. Buildings have fallen into disrepair, violent crime has intensifies and waiting lists for housing continue to grow. This year, we face the biggest cuts ever! Public Housing Authorities will be funded at only 76% of the need, leaving a $1 billion shortfall nationally. The House has voted to add $300 million more. The Senate will vote this week and we need them to, at minimum, preserve the House funding levels. It is critical to contact Senators Feinstein and Boxer today and urge them to increase funding levels for public housing. Call 1-877-322-5742 to contact your Senator's DC office or send a fax online through http://www.local-impact.org. For more info:sara [at] hrcsf.org
