debt collection in SF tenderloin

by s
What happened to SF woman who snitched?
A friend recently told me a Tenderloin rumor. I have no way to verify this rumor,
so I'm NOT presenting it as fact.
On the other hand, my friend has no reason to lie about this; and I personally believe the story's main outline.
Mistakwenn details are to be expected, as with most rumors (and even some journalism).
...
The rumor is that a certain group of drug dealers were VERY strict
whenever a drug user owed them money, and failed to repay them in time.
Reportedly they would strip the debtor stark naked, and then beat her up.
Apparently none of the punished debtors dared to snitch, until resently.

Having allegedly endured such treatment, a woman went to the police;
causing the police to question a suspect.

The police questions made it obvious that somebody had snitched.
Soon the alleged snitch went missing.

Later her body was found, reportedly with burn marks,
as if a flammable liquid had been poured on her, then lit.

Later the SFPD arrested a suspect.

.......

Is this rumor true? I don't know, and neither does Indybay.
All I know is that my friend believes it.

If it's true, I wonder whether any of the victims will dare to testify?
Drug users have very little confidence in the police;
especially if the user is a sexworker, or a part-time dealer, or an illegal alien,
or otherwise on the wrong side of the law.
