This week's guest on Media Matters is Jeff Chester of the Center for Digital Democracy, and author of the new book Digital Destiny.

This will be a pre-recorded show.

Media Matters features host Bob McChesney in conversation with a variety of guests.

Bob McChesney is a research professor in the Institute of Communications Research and the Graduate School of Information and Library Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“The media are central to all our lives,” he says. “Yet the media are the most frequently misunderstood parts of our lives. We want to help people understand the role of media in society.”

Sunday morning's audio stream will be accessible on the internet at 11 am Pacific Time, and the archived program should be available with along with past programs beginning tomorrow.

Today's guest is Jeff Chester, the executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy and an expert on developments in electronic media, especially broadband communications.

His is the author of Digital Destiny:
"Digital Destiny reveals the corrupt nature of U.S. media and telecommunications policymaking. It "names names"--including political leaders, FCC Commissioners and nonprofit groups--who have accepted media industry cash and high paying positions. It exposes the industry's "vision" for our digital future, where the promise of the new media is made subservient to a narrow, self-serving agenda. The book offers an agenda for action, including helping `clean house' at the FCC."

UPCOMING GUESTS
---------------------------------
???

Question we might ask if this was not a pre-recorded program:
Guarding net neutrality is like guarding the front door-- but why doesn't the mainstream media talk more about what we can do to guard the front door?
