Congress to investigate war protests instead of Bush's lies to Congress

by WSQT Guerrilla Radio 87.9 FM in DC (WSQTradio [at] hushmail.com)
Two days after the historic Jan 27th antiwar protests, pro-war, conservative Republican Sen Allard(R-CO) is calling for a Congressional investigation.

Unfortunately, he does not want to investigate George Bush's lies to Congress(to HIM)that started the war. Instead, he wants to investigate protestors for allegedly leaving graffiti on the US Capitol West Steps!

I called Senator Allard's office and asked if he supports the Bush troop surge-his staffer said he does. He told the Washington Post that spray paint was used on the West Steps of the Capitol. I was there and saw only chalk used there, and paint used only on the tent that shelters tourists.

The Washington Post story states that graffiti was "cleaned up" the same afternoon. This is easy to do with chalk but very unlikely with paint. This, in turn, implies that Allard is lying to the media about exactly what was used to write on the West Steps, just as Bush lied to him and all other members of Congress about WMD in Iraq.

Allard asked why the Capitol Police did not arrest protestors for graffiti (and presumably mass arrest everyone!) Well, an attempt at mass arresting 1,000 protestors protected by Roman Army style shields, within sight of half a MILLION more protestors could have been suicidal.

Such an attack could easily have spurred all those UFPJ protestors to storm up Capitol Hill themselves, as the battle would have been fought in plain sight of everyone up near the stage.

The only way the Capitol Police could keep such a large number of people from storming the very floor of Congress would have been to fire live ammunition into the crowd! Is this what Allard wants?

Time magazine recently called Sen Allard one of the least influential-and one of the 5 worst Senators in the entire Congress.

For such a loser with no family members in Iraq cheerily sending others to die is sickening.

WARNING-with the investigation still a live grenade, any videos, photos, or interviews connecting particular people with graffiti on the Hill need to be deleted NOW from all electronic archives!

I was at the protest too but didn't see this. But really, you should read the whole story, no one is calling for an investigation and Allard didn't say it was spraypaint, it was reported in The Hill that it was spraypaint. All that happened was that he wanted to talk about what happened becasue the whole thing was confusing and there are rumors that Pelosi told the police to stand down.
