Candlight vigil to protest Guantanamo Prison's 5th year in existence. 15th & L is a main thoroughfare for rush hour commuter traffic leaving downtown Sacramento.

This is an international day of protest. Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin and former State Dept. diplomat who resigned in disgust over Iraq policy, Ret. Colonel Ann Wilson are in Cuba 1/11. They will walk to the USA side of Guantanamo Island. At the entrance of the prision they will request to meet with prisioners and officials of Gitmo. Over 400 prisioners have been detained for 5 years since September 11th. Many have committed suicide, been denied medical care, legal represenation and cannot have visitors, mail or contact with their families. Institutionalized torture and abolishment of Habeus Corpus is the norm in Gitmo. British, Austrailian, European and Middle Easterners are imprisioned in Gitmo.

Please bring candles, banners, signs, musical instruments. Please wear orange clothing and black hoods if possible. Orange T-shirts/buttons will be available for sale "Shut Guantanamo Down".
