Dear Supporters of Peace in the Middle East:

Please join us this Saturday, January 13th, from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm, at 16th & Broadway, for Sacramento's first major peace demonstration of 2007: an EMERGENCY PROTEST OF BUSH’S PLAN TO ESCALATE THE IRAQ WAR!

As unbelievable as it sounds, when violence in the Middle East is worse than ever, and after the vast majority American voters sent a clear signal in the last elections that they want the U.S. out of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush administration, the Senate and Congress are still seriously debating about whether to ESCALATE things in Iraq!

The Bush administration is not only planning to continue "staying the course": they're talking about increasing the momentum of that course with at least 20,000 more troops and billions of additional tax dollars to fund the continued, systematic destruction of Iraq.

The Bush administration is also improperly meddling in the political affairs of the Palestinians. Bush has agreed to send $90 million in U.S. tax dollars for arms shipments to the Palestinian militia, Fatah, to help them overthrow the fairly and democratically elected Hamas political party. Bush's funding of Fatah is setting the stage for yet another civil war.

Because this is such a critical period of national policy reformulation, we need to make strong public statements about the positions we expect our representatives to take. Therefore, please come out this Saturday, and bring compelling signs and displays telling our representatives that we want the U.S. out of Iraq and Afghanistan, that we oppose any additional funding of the U.S. military presence in Iraq or any funding of the Fatah militia.

Issues to support include:

U.S. Out of Iraq now!
Impeachment is on the table!
No more funding of U.S. military in Iraq!
No funding of Abbas or Fatah!
No arms to Israel!
Leave Iran alone!

**EVEN IF YOU SUPPORT ONLY SOME OF THESE CAUSES, PLEASE JOIN US!**

Thank you. We look forward to seeing you.

Note: Please use on-street parking (which is free) instead of Tower Records/Cafe/Theater customer lots.
