Last Night Photos
"We want to live in a world full of play and celebration, where self expression is a matter of course. Where one does not have to ask permission of authorities to realize one's dreams of adventure and possibility." From Last Night Flyer passed out prior to the parade.
December 31, 2006 marked the second Do-It-Yourself Last Night parade in downtown Santa Cruz. Musicians, cyclists, art-car drivers, jugglers, and people of all ages gathered behind Saturn Cafe at 5pm. After the sun began to set the last night participants lined up and took to Pacific Avenue without a permit, city sponsorship or "organizers."
As the parade stretched the final blocks of Pacific Avenue, the people stopped in the street to dance to the Trash Orchestra and drum circles. It was a fun night in Santa Cruz of celebration and friends.
While the police were at the event with cameras, they kept their distance and didn't seem to bother any participants.
