Join the Compassionate Cooks’ (http://www.compassionatecooks.com) Vegetarian Cooking Class that features mostly local, in-season, organic ingredients. On January 13th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm, we will demonstrate five delicious, nutritious dishes, including Homemade Hummus Wraps with Roasted Red Peppers, Creamy Potato Leek Soup, Pasta Primavera with Seasonal Veggies, Fast & Fabulous Fajitas, German Apple Cake. Plus, we're doing a test taste of various types of rice, such as Brown Basmati, Wehani, Forbidden, and more. We feature uncomplicated recipes, debunk myths regarding plant-based eating, eat yummy food samples, and have a lot of fun. Register in advance online at http://www.compassionatecooks.com or call 510-531-COOK and join us at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th St. at Castro. Wheelchair accessible. $45 (in advance), plus $5 food/materials fee (due on day of class). Fees include demonstration, food samples, copies of recipes, coupons for restaurants and local groceries, resources and much more.
